'Twas The Night Before Thanksgiving
With half-days for the cooldaughters, prep for holiday hosting, work, shows, blog, etc. it's pretty crazy around here. There's a ton of stuff going on tonight, though; so here's a mini listing to get you going. If you can break away from drinks at The Downtown or The Dublin House with your old high school acquaintances, there's plenty of other stuff with which to occupy yourself.
The Brighton has free BBQ along with Negative Traction, Generation Nowhere, Sick Mind, Frankie V, The Mischief Kids, Hot Blood, and Suspect. That will be the second show of the night for Hot Blood's Alex Rosen who plays with The Battery Electric for the Conover release show at Red Bank Rehearsal earlier in the evening. Also on the RBR bill are Dentist, The Off White, Corrina, Corrina, Teenage Halloween, and more.
Hot Blood, The Battery Electric, Dentist, Luke of Teenage Halloween, and The Off White are all playing the Little Dickman / CoolDad Music holiday benefit on 12/14. Also joining us in December are Jersey City shoegazers, Overlake. First, they play tonight with Wax Darts, Christian Diana and The Foxfires, and Angelface/Headcase up at Clash Bar.
EJ's in Seaside hosts Chris Rockwell and The Stickball Social Club, Gravity Well, Deff Ray, and Humongous for a free #RocksgivingEve show. The Mill Hill in Trenton has Honah Lee, Mikey Erg, The Plurals, The Low Doses, and Physical Thing. The Saint hosts the seventh annual Asbury Family Dinner to benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties with music from Des and The Swagmatics, Dead Overhead, and Dub Proof.
River City Extension bring the fifth installment of their Simple Gifts homecoming show to The Stone Pony. Also on that bill are gods, EdTang and The Chops, and Prehistoric Forest (record release show). They'll also be collecting food for the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Check out my interview series with River City Extension if you want to hear us get progressively more buzzed as we talk about some of what you may hear tonight.
