Premiere: Psychiatric Metaphors Release a New Single and Announce S/T EP with Little Dickman Records

"The Parasite"

Psychiatric Metaphors have announced the next phase in their spaced-out, psychedelic trip. Mastermind Sam Taylor will be releasing the project's self-titled 7" EP via our friends at Asbury Park's Little Dickman Records; and, today, we have the first taste of that record with single "The Parasite."

Last year, I wrote of the Brooklyn via New Jersey band's 33 Thorne Street LP that "Psychiatric Metaphors deliver a form of mind expansion." That continues with "The Parasite" as the song, like like its title organism, seeps into your brain and writhes around taking control for about 3 minutes. The track's convulsive repetition merges with some spaced-out embellishments creating the sense that it's hurtling through a pocket of space-time created fresh out of Taylor's head.

Stream "The Parasite" below, and look for Psychiatric Metaphors on 7" vinyl with its trippy Ryan Koster cover art at the end of August.

You can catch Psychiatric Metaphors when Sam Taylor is live, in-studio on tonight's Signal To Noise radio program which airs on WFDU-HD2 at 10pm. The full band also head out on a tour that kicks off August 4th at The Saint when they play with Boogarins and Ribeye Brothers. The rest of Psychiatric Metaphors' current tour dates are below.
