Hub City Sounds: ROCK New Brunswick 2017, 9/8 - 9/10

Expanded Edition

It's back-to-school time, and that means that the annual Hub City Sounds: ROCK New Brunswick Festival returns to various venues throughout Hub City. This year's event has expanded to cover three days and to include a DIY market and food trucks in addition to the music.

Things kick off on Friday, September 8th, with a New Brunswick Music Scene Archive panel discussion at the Rutgers University Alexander Library. Panelists include Dennis Diken, Sharief Hobley, Audrey Wicht, Andrew Spina, and Bob Makin.

Saturday, September 9th, features two alcohol-free, all-ages shows. Volume IV hosts Mr. Payday, Spowder, Glazer, and Schwervon! A second warmup party takes place at NJ Skateshop featuring Neighborhood Watch DJ Collective.

The festival's free main event takes place in New Brunswick's Boyd park on Sunday afternoon. In addition to food trucks, buskers, DIY vendors, and free community workshops, Sunday features performances from Killer Shrimp, Vertical Fixation, Nalani & Sarina, DJ Don Dazzo, Cook Thugless, The Anderson Council, Silent Knight & The Band Called FUSE, Sharief In Burgundy, and Hub City Stompers.

New Brunswick's Scarlet Pub hosts an after-party with Experiment 34, The Turnbucklers, The Clydes, and Speed Queen.

That's a lotta stuff. CoolDad Music, along with just about every music-related outlet in the Garden State, is a co-sponsor of the event; and my hat is off to everyone who put all the actual work into organizing this showcase of just some of what New Brunswick has to offer.
