Burger Revolution
A bunch of us -- Little Dickman Records, The Garden State Beard and Mustache Society, Dentist, me -- are heading down to Austin next week to spread the gospel of NJ / NY music to the revelers at South By Southwest. We're hosting a party on Saturday night to send a few bands on their way which is also doubling as the Asbury Park entry in Saturday's worldwide slate of shows for Burger Records' Burger Revolution VI. More on that after we talk about a few other shows.
On Thursday night, Portland, Oregon's Strange Ranger come to Asbury Park Brewery for a show with Peaer, Fire Is Motion, and Well Wisher. Kino Kimino are part of the ESG show at Bowery Electric in NYC that also features Future Punx and Revel In Dimes. The Menzingers play the first of three sold-out shows at Crossroads, this one with Wax Bottles and Shannen Moser. Overlake and The RockNRoll HiFives play a free show at Jersey City's Pet Shop JC. There's another free Jersey Rock showcase. This one is at River Rock Restaurant in Brick and features Taylor Tote, Bobby Mahoney & The Seventh Son, and Wynward. Fruit & Flowers play Brooklyn's Rose Gold with Parlor Walls, Sodium Beast, and Toyzanne. Deer Tick are at The Stone Pony.
The Cold Seas play Asbury Park Yacht Club on Friday night. Mikey Erg, The Slow Death, Nervous Triggers, and Headlines are up at Brooklyn's El Cortez. The Menzingers play Crossroads with Wild Pink and Lower Case Roses. Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck has Cro-Mags. Debra Devi, Karyn Kuhl Band, and A Bird are at FM in Jersey City. House of Independents in Asbury hosts Chris Rockwell, Lyons, Cranston Dean, Kosha Dillz, Drew The Recluse, and more. Colton Kayser Band and MACK hit Langosta. Jessica Lea Mayfield comes to Mercury Lounge with Mal Blum and The Blums. Nicole Atkins plays a sold-out homecoming show at The Saint with Erika Wennerstrom.
On Saturday night, Seaside Caves, Tiers, and Microfossils play the brewery. Whiner, LKFFCT, Daddies, and Mad Thirsty are at Clash Bar in Clifton. Our friends in Earth Telephone play the third sold-out Menzingers show at Crossroads along with Bobby Barnett. Dinosaur Eyelids play Trenton's Millhill Basement with Warhawks, Tiny Vines, and Breaklite.
Saturday is also the Burger Records / SXSW send-off party at The Saint that I was telling you about. That one features Dentist, Shut Up, Pink Mexico, and Old Lady. It's part of Burger Revolution VI, a day of shows worldwide co-presented by LA's Burger Records. This year, in addition to Asbury Park, there are shows in Kiev, Bogotá, Munich, Cape Town, Melbourne, Oakland, Atlanta, and tons of other places. It's a cool thing to be a part of, and we'd love to see you.
Sunday is pretty busy. NYC's Bowery Electric hosts I Am The Polish Army, North By North, NO ICE, and Castle Black. Sonic Blume, Mad Kings, and Cubbage are at Brighton Bar in Long Branch. Mikey Erg, The Slow Death, and Nervous Triggers come to Court Tavern for a stacked show that also has Erotic Novels. Deal Casino and Haunt Club head up to Brooklyn's Gold Sounds for a show with Stello, The Avalon Hi-Fi, and Great Woods. Spain's Zephyr Bones are at The Footlight in Ridgewood, Queens with Cheap Sneakers, Women Of The Night, and Darkwing's Rich Gold.
That is a busy weekend even without (miraculously) any swim meets here at CDMHQ. Come to The Saint on Saturay and say hey. Otherwise, I'll catch you when I get back from Texas. Don't drink and drive.
