"The Girl from Bangs Avenue"

Monmouth County's Where's Tino? formed in 2016 around the songwriting partnership of Mike Boylan (vocals / guitar) and Jennifer Wolff (vocals / keys / synths) and their shared love of 90s alt-rock and 70s / 80s power-pop. Rounded out by Christopher Rieth (lead guitar), Scott Rescigno (bass) and Jake Reid (drums), Where's Tino? released their debut EP, The Girl from Bangs Avenue, at the end of last year. Today, they're sharing the video for the title track.

Directed by Boylan, "The Girl from Bangs Avenue" stars Rob Hillmann as a driver dealing -- with impressive stoicism -- with a parade of nightly fares. One of those passengers is the title character played by Mackenzie "MACK" Brown. Both Brown and Hillman turn in great performances. The subtlety of Hillmann's reactions really is pretty funny, and he manages to keep his eyes on the road no matter what Brown and the rest of the cast throw at him.

The song draws heavily on the influences mentioned above. Think The Wallflowers meet The Cars.

New Video from Asbury Park's MACK

"Tangled"

Asbury Park pop rock band MACK is the brainchild of singer / songwriter Mackenzie Brown. Back in April, MACK released Balance, their 4-song debut EP. Last Friday, we got the video for single and opening track "Tangled."

The song, like the rest of the EP, features backing band Deal Casino and was produced by Erik Kase Romero at Lakehouse Recording Studio. Brown co-wrote the track with Deal Casino bassist Jon Rodney, and it's a kinetic and chugging bit of alternative rock. Chris Szczypala shot and edited the video. Szczypala shows off some serious skills interspersing animations, double exposures, and other effects in the creation of the frantically psychedelic clip.

Since forming in April, MACK have been busy playing live shows with a band featuring Brown, Justin Bornemann, Santo Rizzolo, and Ro Kaurunaratne. You can check them out next at New Brunswick's Court Tavern on July 28th.

Check out the video for "Tangled" below. You can stream / purchase Balance over at the MACK Bandcamp page.
