Premiere: First-ever Video from New Brunswick's Experiment 34

"Check Up"

Back in March, New Brunswick four-piece, Experiment 34, released the three-song teaser EP, Charismanic. The set blends funk, rock, rap, and psychedelia into something the band have dubbed "psycho funk." Opening track, "Check Up," is a kinetic track on which lead singer Matthew Makin channels a bit of Anthony Kiedis in his delivery. Today, the band give us the video for that track.

According to Makin, "'Check Up' is a funk party song about knowing your limits but pushing them anyway." Entirely self-produced, the video was shot and edited by drummer Jack LaMonica. The clip combines performance with a narrative element. "Check Up" gives a glimpse into the kind of energy and attitude Experiment 34 bring to their live shows, while it kicks off a storyline between a doctor and patient that Experiment 34 plan to carry on into their next video.

Experiment 34 have big plans in the upcoming weeks and months including shows this weekend at GameChager World on 8/12, where they'll be vying for a spot on the bill at Rock Carnival, and at Scarlet Pub in New Brunswick on 8/14. They'll also be expanding Charismanic with three new Lakehouse-recorded singles as they move toward their first full-length.
