"My First Abortion"
Ex-Girlfriends have only been a band for about two months, but the Brooklyn 5-piece (which features Sharkmuffin's Tarra Thiessen) have wasted no time in establishing a voice for themselves. They aren't afraid to get in your face and tell you what they think while forcing you to involuntarily move to their music.
Debut single "My First Abortion" tells the story of ...well... a girl's first abortion. Instead of relying on cold and clinical images, the song finds its narrator taking control of her life and body as she screams "This is my choice! / This is my fucking choice!" over the single's white-hot two minutes.
