We're back after a nice break in New Orleans / Houston. Things are busy this weekend with the CoolDaughters' first swim meet, high school visits (which are a thing now, I guess) for CoolDaughter #1, and plenty of music including the latest installment of Asbury Underground on Saturday and Sunday.

On Thursday night, 73 See Gallery in Montclair hosts ManDancing, LKFFCT, Weller, Mr. Phylzz, and Roswell Debacle. Open Mic Thursdays continue at The Asbury. House of Independents has a screening of the Fat Wreck Chords documentary, A Fat Wreck. Local hero and pop star Charlie Puth is at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River. Sum 41 play a sold out reunion show at Starland.

Ian Fitzgerald and Avery Mandeville play a free show at Belmar's 10th Avenue Burrito on Friday. The Televisionaries return to Anchor's Bend for a free show of their own. PURE HELL, TV Tramps, Bowhead, and No Parole hit Brighton Bar. Rent Party hosts Jesse Malin and his band for their monthly fundraiser. It's acoustic night at Stockton Farmer's Market and the start of a busy weekend for Brian Erickson & Renee Maskin who play that one with Devon Moore.

On Saturday, Grin & Bear play their EP release party at Asbury Park Yacht Club with Halogens and The LeMats. Nervous Triggers and Miranda Taylor head up to NYC's Cake Shop to play with Chandeli'ers, Top Bunk, The Passengers, and Spite House. Rose Boulevard, Centennials, Lowlight, Dave Mooney, and The Dead Flowers are at Court Tavern. Dentist head out to New Hope to play John & Peter's with We're Ghosts Now, Kate Dressed Up, The Paper Jets, and The Vaughns. Des & The Swagmatics play a free show at Langosta. Omni, Sharkmuffin, Yawn Mower, and CaveWomen take over The Saint. Coheed & Cambria play a sold-out Starland. Rose Boulevard, Centennials, Dave Mooney, and Lowlight, and The Dead Flowers play Court Tavern in New Brunswick.

Saturday is also Day 1 of this year's Asbury Underground. Pretty much everybody who plays in a band in or around Asbury Park will be playing a set downtown including Chris Brown (who'll be releasing his latest EP), Blisstique, Renee Maskin, Frank Lombardi, Emily Grove, Ron Santee, Geena, Julian Fulton, Stringbean, gods, and more. Saturday's afterparty takes place at The Asbury and features Spoondrift, Arlen Feiles, and Doug Zambon.

Day 2 of Asbury Underground on Sunday coincides with Harvest Fest in Kennedy Park and features full-band performances by Dentist, GayGuy/StraightGuy, The Shady Street Show Band, Geena & Dragster, and Matt O'Ree & Erin Shewell. Sunday's afterparty happens at The Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten with Gideon Luke & The People.

The rest of Sunday is unusually packed. Noise In The Attic is back at The Inkwell in Long Branch with Matt Fernicola, Rachel Ana Dobken, and Brian Erickson. It's Day 4 of Rocker Stalker Fest in Brooklyn at Our Wicked Lady with New Resistants, Ex-Girlfriends, Soraia, Jean Pool, and more. Lost In Society's Zach Moyle is back from tour and plays acoustic at Parlor Gallery with Survival Guide.

So there you have it. Plenty to do on a fall weekend. If you see me, come say hi and I'll buy you a mulled cider.
