Fall Festival of Exxxxxxellence...
CoolDaughter #1 kicks off her fall / winter swim season tomorrow with a weekend meet at Princeton. Warm-up: 7 AM. I'm, of course, preparing the way I always do by going to a rock show at Asbury Lanes that promises to last into sometime tomorrow. That's OK. Love the shows. Love the meets. So I do what I have to do.
This is a big season for CD1 as she'll be aging out of her 10 and under bracket come February. That means she'll have to start chasing times all over again. I think it's teaching her not to sit back and be complacent, that you have to work for something if you really want it. Not sure I'd be particularly good at imparting those lessons to her, so she impresses me every day. And she seems to enjoy herself. I like to think that we wouldn't pressure her to continue with swimming if she didn't love it, but it's never really come up.
Anyway, this post is just to wish her luck and a good season. Looking forward to some sleep in the back of the van tomorrow while she does her warm-up and, maybe, a trip to Princeton Record Exchange after the meet.
