Philadelphia's Heyward Howkins will be releasing the follow-up to 2012's Hale & Hearty on November 5th. He gives us a taste of that upcoming record with the title track, "Be Frank, Furness."
A play on the name of Philadelphia architect Frank Furness, "Be Frank, Furness" contains several references to the city and rumbles along with a bigger sound than any of the tracks on Howkins's debut LP. Still there, though, are the expert guitar work, clever wordplay, -- “I should have quit this Main Line mess. They were first world problems, yes. Turned into first world debt" -- and Howkins's excellent voice.
You can stream "Be Frank, Furness" via the Heyward Howkins Soundcloud; and, as a bonus, Howkins has made it available for free download.
