It's the first weekend of spring. CoolDaughter #1 is losing her cookies over the fact that the film version of Divergent is finally here. And there are some big shows this weekend.
Tonight, Clash Bar in Clifton -- a new entry on this list -- plays host to the O>Matics. Closer to home, Kiyomi Valentine goes solo acoustic at The Saint; and Karen Phillips plays the always-free Langosta show with Glimmer Grass Band.
Saturday features Birthwater for free at Langosta, The Nick Clemons Band over at Wonder Bar, and the nearly sold out "Last Butch Standing" from comedian and Orange Is The New Black cast member Lea DeLaria.
This week, though, it's all about Sunday for me. Asbury Lanes is hosting a recently-announced performance by Mariachi El Bronx, the mariachi band alter-ego of LA hardcore greats The Bronx. The Brighton Bar has the incomparable Jonathan Richman. These are two fantastic, can't-miss shows; but, alas, life is about choices.
If you're headed to The Lanes on Sunday, I know you'll have a blast. Feel free to tell me all about it. There's just no way I can't go toThe Brighton, though, for an evening with Mr. Richman.
