Summer Solstice
Summer officially starts at 6:51 AM on Saturday. Also on Saturday, it's the 45th wedding anniversary of a particularly cool set of grandparents. And this weekend gives you the chance to catch a couple of pretty interesting bands featuring members of The Bouncing Souls.
Even Thursday is full this week. As always, you can kick things off with a free show at Asbury Park Yacht Club presented by Sound Waves. This week's show features Taylor Tote, The Loose Roosters, and Kitten Ruckus. Somos come to Asbury Lanes w/ On Your Marks, Cross Town Train, and Have a Good Season; while recent Happy Mondays guests, Sour Boy, Bitter Girl, play the Court Tavern in New Brunswick. Rebekah Jean headlines a show at The Saint that also features Tony Tedesco & Full Fathom Five. Matisyahu headlines The Stone Pony.
On Friday night, ska veterans The Toasters come to the Brighton, and Ringo Starr and his All-Stars are at the Basie. The Court Tavern hosts recent CoolDad Music interview subjects, Smalltalk, along with Dollys, NGHTCRWLRS, Pour The Pirate Sherry, and Morningside Lane. This is your first Bouncing Souls-related opportunity of the weekend as Pete Steinkopf plays guitar in Smalltalk.
On Saturday, NYHC band Breakdown bring their 1987 lineup to Asbury Lanes. The Saint has two shows: Kawehi at 6pm followed by Autumn City at 10.
Sunday night sees X-founder John Doe and his band at Asbury Lanes. Deal Casino continue their free summer residency at The Saint. Lakehouse Music Academy has something for the whole family at 1pm as Play Date, the family music project of husband and wife team Greg Attonito (The Bouncing Souls) and Shanti Wintergate, bring their show to Asbury Park.
