Lots of Decisions This Weekend
The kids are done with school. At CoolDad Music HQ, we've already started with early morning swim practices. Camp starts next week. Just before that, CoolMom and I are off from work for a few days; and we may catch a couple of shows together.
Asbury Lanes has a full slate of shows this weekend, starting tonight (Thursday) with The Business. Sound Waves brings Kyle Trocolla, Doug Zambon (The Vansaders), and Decrepit Youth to APYC for a free show. The Glycerine Queens celebrate the release of their debut CD, Sleep Deprivation, tonight as they support The Lonely Biscuits at The Stone Pony.
On Friday night, Asbury's Little Dickman Records bring a showcase of sorts to Asbury Lanes as Brooklyn's Dirty Fences headline a bill that also features The Battery Electric, Hot Blood, and BaBabes. New Jersey pop punk superstars The Front Bottoms play Starland in support of Say Anything. That bill also includes CoolDad Music Favorites The So So Glos along with You Blew It! The Stone Pony Summer Stage hosts one of its best shows of the summer as Drive-By Truckers and The Hold Steady co-headline. There's an "official after party" for that one at The Wonder Bar with Wakey! Wakey! and Dollys.
Things don't let up on Saturday. FoCDMs Dentist are part of a bill at Asbury Lanes that includes GayGuy / StraightGuy, Souvenir Stand, and The Pretty Greens. I posted a preview of that show yesterday. Karmic Juggernaut play for free at APYC, and Wreaths do a free late set at Langosta. Primus and The Dean Ween Group take over The Stone Pony Summer Stage.
Sunday sees a late afternoon show at the Lanes with Kingpin. Deal Casino continue their free summer residency at The Saint.
There's something for everyone on this busy summer weekend. Come find me, and -- for those of you who haven't met her -- I'll introduce you to CoolMom. She's real. Believe me.
