Nicole Atkins tours with artists like The Avett Brothers and Nick Cave. She's written about in national publications like Rolling Stone, People, (and CoolDad Music). Her videos premiere on NPR's "First Watch."
Through all that, though, Nicole keeps it real. She gives shouts out to local bands in interviews. She makes videos with all of her Asbury friends in them. Whenever she's in town, you can find her playing a free set or acting as a DJ somewhere in Asbury Park.
So head over to NPR and have a look at the latest, spookily animated (by Ilinca Höpfner) video from one of our own. It's for "Who Killed the Moonlight," the opening track to this year's Slow Phaser. The write-up accompanying the video describes the dream that inspired it, but I think I also see a quick, visual reference to another song on Slow Phaser towards the end.
