What's Going On: 9/25, 9/26, 9/27 & 9/28, 2014

The Battery Electric will be jamming at Soupergroove 3. Paper Streets support Candy Hearts. The Vansaders play The Saint, and Wreaths are at Anchor's Bend.

Have You Had a Pumpkin Spice Latte Yet?

I've never had one in my life, but it is the first full weekend of autumn. In between your apple picking and hayride expeditions there are some nice things to check out musically.

On Thursday night, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys are at Asbury Lanes. Candy Hearts bring their pop punk to The Brighton for a show with Back & Forth, Gin War, and FoCDMs Paper Streets.

Owel hit Asbury Lanes on Friday night with Hey Anna, Estella, and Brooklyn's Mount Sharp. May be a good place for a Scotch LaRock sighting. Soupergroove 3 starts out in Freehold with just a ton of bands like Turtle Soup, Karmic Juggernaut, Lemon Juice, The Battery Electric, The Glycerine Queens, and many, many more. R5 (Ross, Rocky, Rydel, Riker, and Ellington -- get it?) play a sold out show at Starland. The Rentals play The Stone Pony, and Pop-Break celebrate their 5th anniversary with a show at Wonder Bar featuring Modern Chemistry, Amy Malkoff and The Moonshines, The Brigantines, The Clydes, and Jason Robert.

Saturday brings the second day of Soupergroove. Upstart Fest hits Asbury Lanes with Svetlanas, Left Alone, The Virus, and T.V. Tramps. The Ribeye Brothers continue their North American tour with an appearance at Anchor's Bend as part of a packed bill that also includes Wreaths, Birthwater, Ba Babes, Von Mons, Acid, gods, and Seaside Caves. Teenage Halloween and Those Corn People play a beach party somewhere in Asbury. The Vansaders are at The Saint with The Amboys, Gameday Regulars, and Casino Sundae.

On Sunday, you can hear cleaned-up, family-friendly versions of all your favorite Top 40 hits when the Kidz Bop Kids come to Count Basie Theatre. The Ribeye Brothers bring their North American tour to Red Bank with a show at The Dublin House following Red Bank Oyster Fest.

Enjoy the first weekend of autumn. If you see me around, come say hi. I'll buy you a cider.
