What's Going On: 11/6, 11/7, 11/8 & 11/9, 2014

CoolDaughter 1 is joining me for either Screaming Females or Waxahatchee (I hope).

Teach Your Children

I've been waiting for this weekend for a while. She's hemming and hawing about it now, but my plan for the last few months has been to take CoolDaughter #1 to one of the two shows at Asbury Lanes this weekend. We'll go grab dinner. Maybe bowl a few frames. Watch the show. Good hangs. Now, I just have to get her to agree to join me.

First, though, we must deal with Thursday night. Estella will be celebrating their latest album release with help from Chemtrail and NY In 64 at Asbury Lanes. Def Ray, The Mischief Kids, and Humongous play what will probably be a pretty crazy free show at APYC. Pat DiNizio is back confessing for free at Langosta. The Shady Street Show band help out Bonerama along with Sakima at The Saint. OTOWN are at The Pony.

Friday night at The Lanes is the one I've got my sights set on for CD1, I think. Waxahatchee brings her solo acoustic tour to an all ages show in Asbury with help from her sister Allison Crutchfield and Radiator Hospital.

Also on Friday, those kids in The Uncommonly Good support ANTiSEEN at The Brighton. Frank Lombardi holds the release party for his latest, Whiskey and the Mourning After, with help from lots of friends at Langosta. Val Emmich and Taylor Tote hit The Saint. Pete Yorn is at The Stone Pony. Little Dickman brings Mang: A Brown Tribute to Ween to 610 Bangs along with TV Tramps and The Off White. Secret Sound, Mad Feather Group, Cranston Dean, and The Amboys' C.M. Smith play Wonder Bar.

The other option for CD1 is Screaming Females and PUJOL at Asbury Lanes on Saturday. It may be a little loud for her, so I'll probably do that one on my own. Dentist head up to New Brunswick on Saturday to play Court Tavern with Modern Chemistry, Holy City Zoo, Brown Butter, and Deal Casino. And it's Asbury Park vs Jersey City as Smalltalk and The Battery Electric head up to Lot 13 Longbar for a show with Desir Decir and Awkward Girls.

Sundays are getting pretty quiet as the cooler weather comes in, but prog fans can catch Ian Anderson at The Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank. Up in Hoboken, our buds in Teenage Halloween open for PUP at Stevens.

Wish me luck on my outing with the big girl this Friday. Come say hi to us if you're at the show. She'll be the very tall 11 year old drinking a Sprite.
