Have I mentioned this holiday benefit show we're putting on with Little Dickman Records this Sunday? I can't remember...
Anyway, one of the bands I'm really excited to have on the bill are Jersey City's Overlake. I reviewed their fantastic debut album Sighs for our friends over at United By Rocket Science back in May. The thing that really jumped out at me when I heard the record was, "These people love all the same music I do!"
A great example of that is "Our Sky." The song combines pop, guitar noise, and deep-in-the-mix vocals into a shoegazy, dream poppy bit of wonderfulness. And check out Tom Barrett rocking the coolest guitar around, the Squier J. Mascis Jazzmaster.
In a double-dose of relevance, Joe Centeno, guitarist and dad in The RocknRoll HiFives, directed the clip. Joe and his band / family will be opening the show for us on Sunday.
