Shellshonic Shag-O-Vision Season 2 Premiere: Tweens

Happy Snow Day

Our friends in Shellshag launched the second season of their weird and wonderful Shellshonic Shag-O-Vision today. Last season brought us great shows featuring Laura Stevenson, Marissa Paternoster, Upset's Ali Koehler, The Marked Men, Vacation, Modern Hut, and more. This season kicks of with Cincinnati's Tweens.

I got to see Tweens last spring at Brooklyn's Northside Festival, and I was really impressed by their bratty punk and, especially, singer Bridget Battle's relentless energy on stage. Here, they tone things down a bit, joining Shellshag for covers of Sugar Ray's "When It's Over" and Hedwig's "Wicked Little Town."

Shellhead and Shag are really two of the coolest people I've had the pleasure to meet while doing this blog thing, and it comes through in every episode of this little show. Looks like it will be a great season.

You can see Shellshag on February 6th at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory for Night 1 of the annual Don Giovanni Records Showcase (along with Nude Beach, Mal Blum, The Hamiltons, Crow Bait, and our friends Black Wine). Single night tickets for both 2/6 and 2/7 are still available but going quickly.
