What's Going On: 1/15, 1/16, 1/17 & 1/18, 2015

Sink Tapes hold their record release at The Court Tavern on Saturday.

Light of Day

Putting the finishing touches on this as I get ready to head down to Reston, VA for the day. Fun.

This is the big Light of Day weekend in Asbury Park, so that means lots of shows. Things get started on Thursday night When "Big Pussy" Vinny Pastore and some other Sopranos head to Asbury Lanes for a LoD Bowl-a-Thon. The Saint has two shows with Ween's Aaron Freeman taking the early slot, and Dark City Strings headlining the late set. The Wonderbar hosts Wonder Jam Deluxe. Morningside Lane Head to Brooklyn's Grand Victory, and ROMP are playing Bushwick with Osaka, Dead Tenants, and Lilith Velkor.

On Friday, Rich Russo's "Anything, Anything" happens at Asbury Lanes. On that bill are Glycerine Queens, Wesley Stace, and John Easdale of Dramarama among others. Teenage Halloween are at The Brighton supporting David Peel. The Gay Blades, Modern Chemistry, Those Mocking Birds, The Blithedale Romance, and The Grape and The Grain hit Court Tavern. Willie Nile is at The Pony. The Admissible Arsonist release show takes place at Village Coffee.

On Saturday, Asbury Underground presents their first event of 2015 with artists playing at various spots in downtown Asbury for free. Metalachi are at The Lanes with Lost In Society's alter-ego, Booger Sugar. Sink Tapes hold the release show for Creases at Court Tavern with help from Fleeting, Lake Effect, Fairmount, and Fire Is Moon. Jersey City venue / collective, The Dopeness, reopens with a show from The Blithedale Romance, Morningside Lane, and more. Two shows again at The Saint: Women of Song early and a late show headlined by GhostDog. Keller Williams is at The Pony. Village Coffee hosts the re-scheduled, moved Vansaders show which features a ton of other bands including Corrina, Corrina, Speaker For The Dead, Bus Buddies, and Nick Palermo of Have A Good Season.

Also on Saturday, Light of Day holds its main event at The Paramount. Mr. Bruce has made an appearance in 10 of the 14 years, including last year. It's sold out.

The Saint keeps the pedal to the metal on Sunday with two more shows. Glimmer Grass Band headline the early show with Quincy Mumford and The Reason Why taking the late slot. UPDATE: Our good friends Hot Blood play Grand Victory in Brooklyn with On The Loose right in the middle of today's Packers game.

Have fun. There's gotta be something for you.
