Sickness and Snow

Ah, winter. Sickness and the potential for snow this weekend. These are a few of my least favorite things. The cooldaughters appear to be rounding back into shape after a long week of illness. So far, so good for me; though I think I feel a little tickle in the back of my throat. I hope I can make it through the weekend. It looks like we may be in for more rain than snow, which is a plus.

Things get started on Thursday night when The Reverend Horton Heat comes to the Stone Pony. Just down the block at The Wonder Bar, WRAT's Jersey Rock host the final preliminary round in their local music showcase. On tap for that show are Winds and Walls, Prehistoric Forest, and Ropetree. Psychiatric Metaphors travel to Court Tavern for a show with The Shackeltons, Polaroids, and Just Waiting.

Corona's Castle in Jackson hosts their grand opening show on Friday with Forever Losing Sleep, Acquiescence, Secret Mountain, one of the Killer Waveses, The Uncommonly Good, Prospect, and Arrows In Her. Things get started there at an early 5pm. Locals Gravity Well and Lowlight make their way up to The Court Tavern for a show with Small Planet Radio, Your Gentlemen, and Oh DAM. The Herdman Brothers, Bone & Marrow, and Glycerine Queens play for free at Langosta. The Asbury Park Surf Music Festival brings its Winter Beach Bash (and not a moment too soon) to The Wonder Bar featuring surf rock from Plato Zorba, Black Flamingos, Los Pocos Locos, and curators, The Brigantines.

On Saturday, Lost In Society take their act to Atlantic City's Bone Yard with 18th And Addison, Goddamnit, Paris Under Fire, and The Blithedale Romance. Paradise Lost in New Brunswick hosts Don Giovanni's California X along with ROMP, American Lions, and Casual. Jersey City's Vomitface and New Brunswick's Eagle Daddy hit Muchmore's in Brooklyn with Vivre Sa Vie, Ghost Punch, and King Clone.

It's back to New Brunswick again on Sunday. This time, The Banana Stand has Semiotics, Cold Weather Company, CachaBacha, No Stranger, and Ally Rose.
