It's CD1's 12th birthday on Sunday! |
Too Much Is Never Enough
Hoo boy. What a weekend. It's one of those weekends when I wish I were, like, one of those rebooted Battlestar Galactica Cylons. The ones that all were exact replicas of one another and who shared all of each other's memories and experiences. You know how that is, right?
In addition to being absolutely loaded with shows played by FOCDMs, this is just a plain old big weekend at CoolDad Music HQ. My mom -- the absolute coolest coolmom and coolgrandma around -- has her birthday today, February 5th. Happy birthday, hugs, kisses, all that to my mommy. Both cooldaughters have swim meets. Sunday, I've got the Father / Daughter Dance with CoolDaughter #2; and, and, and... ...Sunday is also the birthday of my beautiful bestie CoolDaughter #1. Plus, The Walking Dead is back.
Shows, though.
Thursday brings Lydia Loveless to The Brighton. This is a great opportunity to see an alt-country soon-to-be great in a small and intimate setting. I suggest you go.
Friday is when things get really sticky. Deal Casino make their way up to the big city for a show at Arlene's Grocery with Happy Body Slow Brain, Reckless Serenade, and The Weekenders. Pebbles, Cassavetes, ROMP, and Marissa Paternoster's other band Bad Canoes hit Circuit City in New Brunswick. The Off White are at The Meatlocker with Greasy Hearts, The Mad Doctors, and The Creeps. Our buds in Paper Streets open for Empire! Empire! at Pallisades in Brooklyn. The Rail House hosts Cold Weather Company, Small Planet Radio, Lowlight, and Rose Boulevard. One of our favorites -- Sink Tapes -- hit The Wonder Bar with our new friends Osaka, Lake Effect, and The Gray Company. Corrina, Corrina head up to Hoboken for a show with Chumped, Cutters, Basement Beers, and Friends In Distraction at Stevens.
But that's not all. Night 1 of the annual Don Giovanni Records Showcase takes place at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory featuring Nude Beach, Shellshag, The Hamiltons, Mal Blum, Black Wine, and Crow Bait.
...
OK. Saturday. New Brunswick's Banana Stand has Semiotics, Fleeting, Use Big Words, Chandos, and the hard working ROMP. Great show at The Brighton featuring The Sidekicks, LVL UP, Corrina Corrina, and Pebbles. The Echoplex Underground has Deal Casino, The Battery Electric, The Color Atlantic, and Emily Youth Project. New Brunswick's Empire hosts Professor Caveman, Voodoo Soul, Eagle Daddy, and El Americano. Life Eaters, The Money Shot, and Desir Decir are at Harrison's GreenRoom. Books., Hurricane Season, All Sensory Void, Morningside Lane (who, by the way, are running a GoFundMe campaign for their upcoming Euro tour), Dizzy Bats, and The Gray Company are at The PussyPad. And it's Don Giovanni, Night 2 with California X, Downtown Boys, Pinkwash, Worriers, brick mower, Nuclear Santa Claust, and Alice.
On Sunday, you've got a matinee at The Saint featuring The Machine, When In Doubt, and Conover. Then it's a late show with JAH9 and The Dub Treatment with Random Test.
So, so much going on. You're bound to find something. Have fun and enjoy The Walking Dead.
