What's Going On: 4/2, 4/3, 4/4 & 4/5, 2015

Screaming Females come back to Asbury Lanes on Saturday.

#NOFOMO

I'm leaving this evening for a Spring Break vacation with the family. It's been CoolMom's dream for many years to take the cooldaughters on an international trip, and this is the one. We're going to Italy. It should be awesome. With work, this site, the kids' activities, we all don't get to spend as much time together as we'd like; and this will be great.

But... but...

There's this little part of me that feels like I'll be missing out by not covering shows for the next week and a half. A very little part. I guess it's just more evidence of how much I love doing this. I'm trying to line up a few extremely talented contributors to bring you content while I'm away, but the best thing for you is to experience some of the great stuff coming up first-hand.

On Thursay, FrankIero and The Cellabration play a sold-out Asbury Lanes with The Homeless Gospel Choir and New Brunswick's Modern Chemistry. Pennsylvania hard rockers Crobot hit the Brighton with locals Only Living Boy. Mark Geary gets off of his plane from Dublin and heads over to Langosta to play for free with Pat DiNizio.

On Friday, Aidan's Garage in Sea Bright hosts a show mixing locals Teenage Halloween, Admissible Arsonist, and Corrina, Corrina with New Brunswick's Sink Tapes and really good Louisiana band All People. The Court Tavern has Strength 691, Bottomfeeder NJ, The Wait, Banquets, and Scotch LaRock faves gates. Psychiatric Metaphors and The Off White head to Brooklyn's Don Pedro for a King Pizza Records showcase also featuring Sun Voyager, St. James & The Apostles, and LUMPS. American Lions -- who begin a short tour with their New Brunswick pals The Blithedale Romance next week -- play In The West with The Great Explainer, Broadcaster, Sex Snobs, and City Limits. The Pigeon Pad has Perennial Reel, Super City, Howlish, Eagle Daddy, and Belmar's Toy Cars. That's not to be confused with The PussyPad which hosts Sistine, Morningside Lane, Franchise, Reese Van Riper, and Bobby Mahoney and The Seventh Son.

Friday is packed, so it gets another paragraph. Brittney on Fire celebrates her birthday at The Rail House with a Star Wars-themed show featuring Lowlight, dollys, Control, and The House Of Thieves. Up at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory, She Shreds Magazine and Don Giovanni Records present Mirah, Mal Blum, Slothrust, Worriers, and Aye Nako.

Saturday. This is the one that kind of hurts. The other night at Asbury Lanes, I mentioned to someone that I'd be out of town for Screaming Females, Mitski, and FoCDMs ROMP at Asbury Lanes. Their response: "How will they hold that show without you?" How, indeed. Well, they will; and you should go. I'll be there in spirit. And make sure you check out Screaming Females' Rose Mountain if you haven't already.

There's plenty of other stuff on Saturday, too. Tigers Jaw, Lemuria, and Somos are at Gamechanger World in Howell. Our buds in Black Flamingos hustle it up to NYC to play Otto's Shrunken Head with The Aquatudes, The Tarantinos, and Tsunami of Sound. Bounders play a late show at The Saint with CDM favorites Prehistoric Forest and Grand Mariner. Christine Martucci holds her CD release party at The Pony. Thomas Wesley Stern do the same at Lakewood's Strand Theater. Dark City Entertainment turns 1 with a show at Wonder Bar featuring Des and The Swagmatics, Deal Casino, dollys, and The Cold Seas.

You've even got an option on Easter. The Meatlocker hosts Weird and Wonderful Words, Roswell Debacle, Brianna's Sweet Delectables, and The Planet You.

Happy Easter. Happy Passover. Happy non-religious spring nice day. Take notes so you can tell me about all the great stuff I missed. See you on the flip side.
