What's Going On: 6/11, 6/12, 6/13 & 6/14, 2015

Dentist play both Northside and Asbury Underground this weekend.

Someone said to me over Memorial Day Weekend, "Get ready for something cool to do almost every night for the next three months straight." Based on just the last two weekends, she was right. Locally and regionally, there is just too too much happening. A good problem to have, I guess.

Thursday night marks the beginning of the ever-growing Northside Festival which takes place throughout venues in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Bushwick on June 11th - 14th. You can check out the festival's website or either of my previews from earlier in the week to see what's happening. I've listed some shows featuring familiar faces below.

Locally on Thursday, Peelander-Z -- "The Japanese Action Comic Punk Band Based in NYC" -- come to Asbury Lanes. Acid are at Brighton Bar with Scattered Hamlets, and Dave Simmons & STC. FoCDMs Paper Streets and Roy Orbitron are at Court Tavern with Owl Kill, levelhead., and Lyves. Owel are back at The Studio at Webster Hall. Teenage Halloween head up to Montclair's Meatlocker with Chris Rozik, Basement Beers, entia, Dutch Boys, and Uncle Mark.

On Friday, Coliseum come to Asbury Lanes with Child Bite, Psychic Teens, and Sex Cross. Franchise celebrate the release of Santa Muerte at Clash Bar with Projections, Sistine, and Bannister. ROMP are at Lit Lounge in NYC helping American Lions and Semiotics with their co-headlining tour. That bill also features I Am The Heat. Gary U.S. Bonds plays Wonder Bar.

A couple of locals play Northside showcases on Friday. The Battery Electric are at Brooklyn's Paper Box with Silverbird, Bushwick Hotel, Bree and The Whatevers, Secret Nudist Friends, and Palmslap. Dentist play the Hearts Bleed Radio Showcase with Warn The Duke, Vomitface, The Planes, and The Rizzos. It's not listed as an official Northside show, but our friends Little Silver play Rock Shop with The Inner Banks and Erin Condo.

Saturday brings the free Asbury Underground back to downtown Asbury Park. The spring 2015 edition features over 50 bands playing venues like art galleries, coffee shops, and record stores throughout downtown. There's an official after-party at The Saint featuring Dark City Strings, Dentist, GayGuy / StraightGuy, and "Asbury Underground Gunslinger" Rick Barry.

The Saint also has an early show on Saturday with American Lions, Semiotics, Moral Of The Story, and Hopscotch Rebellion playing a 2:30pm matinee.

On Saturday night, AP Night Bazaar is back for its second week with Spider Bags (Do not miss this!) and Ribeye Brothers. Asbury Park Yacht Club has its own can't-miss show with We're Ghosts Now, Hey Anna, and Hot Blood set to shake that place for the second straight Saturday night. Sink Tapes headline New Brunswick's Candy Barrel with Prismatic Mantis, Shipley Hollow, and Ghost Camp. Third Eye Blind play a sold out Stone Pony Summer Stage. ...ok.

Summer Sundays are pretty packed. Asbury Lanes welcomes GBH back with Stag Party, Total Chaos, and The Disconnects. Deal Casino continue their summer residency at APYC. Bryan McPherson is at Russo with Steve Burks and Louise Distras. Bad Religion play Starland.

I've got press credentials, so my personal plans are to head back and forth to Northside Festival; but, as I said the other day, family obligations and an absolutely packed out local weekend may mean that you'll see me around Asbury on Saturday and Sunday.
