The holiday weekend is upon us. Celebrate America. Celebrate good friends and family. Celebrate great music. Come hang out inside the carousel building in Asbury Park.

Things get started on Thursday when Old Wounds celebrate their record release at Asbury Lanes with The Banner, Vein, and Manalive. Mannequin Pussy are at Cooler Ranch in New Brunswick with West Jersey Airport, Secretary Legs, and Nail Nose. Our friends in The Great Depression leave the basement for a show at Garwood's Crossroads with Feudalism, Secret Photos, The Planet You, and Pixl-Visionary. Langosta Lounge presents Writers in the Raw with the fully-clothed Reagan Richards, Gordon Brown, Emily Grove, Christine Martucci, Jerzy Jung, Amanda Duncan, Colton Kayser, and Bobby Mahoney.

Also on Thursday, Jersey Beat returns to Maxwell's in Hoboken to put on a show featuring The Milwaukees, Eastern Anchors, and Bastards of Melody. Barenaked Ladies, Violent Femmes, and Colin Hay are at Mercer County Festival Grounds in East Windsor. Teenage Halloween head up to Montclair's Meatlocker again for a show with Quantum Peruvian, Harborland, Backbone, and The Ramparts Rebel. Jamie Coppa has the release party for Atlantic at The Saint with Frank Lombardi, Tara Dente, Goodbye Tiger, and Lowlight featuring Roy Orbitron's Conor Meara on bass.

Miss TK and The Revenge are having a dance party at Asbury Lanes on Friday. The Ribeye Brothers and Von Mons play for free at APYC. Perennial Reel are at Jersey City's Dopeness with CachaBacha and Morus Alba. EdTang and The Chops host their annual "Shit Show" at Paul's Tavern in Belmar with help from Chevy Lopez. Southside Johnny hits the Stone Pony Summer Stage. Ghost Camp, dollys, The Blithedale Romance, and Brock Landers play for free at Tumulty's in Bruns. Dark City Entertainment hosts a Christmas In July show and food drive at Wonder Bar featuring Chris Rockwell & The Stickball Social Club, Des & The Swagmatics, Tympanic Plexus, and Pepperwine.

On Saturday, Birthwater are back at APYC. New Brunswick's Candy Barrel has Perennial Reel, dollys, Lake Effect, and Professor Caveman. Tiers and Daughter Vision play upstairs at The Paramount. The Wonder Bar has The Band tribute band, Big Pink.

Sunday is a big day around here. We've joined forces with Little Dickman Records and Arcade Radio to bring a free show to the Asbury Park carousel building. Some of our best friends -- The Everymen, Overlake, and Justin and Emily of Dentist -- will be performing right in front of the big Haculla mural that adorns the walls of the old building. It's an early all-ages show, and we hope to see everyone there.

There's other stuff on Sunday, too. Vinyl Theatre and Machineheart come to Asbury Lanes. Deal Casino continue their free residency at APYC. Illearth, The Uncommonly Good, Azrail Noir and The Superterrestrial Youth, The Subcultures, and Transient In Barcelona play Montclair's Meatlocker. Marianas Trench are at The Saint.
