I Like This New Roger Harvey Song

Roger Harvey at Asbury Lanes in July.

"Lovers Can Be Monsters"

I try to spend Fridays going through my emails and messages to see if there's anything I've missed (There always is). Today I got stuck on this new track from Roger Harvey that premiered yesterday at The Key.

I've seen Harvey as a solo act a few times now and been impressed every time. I've been waiting for an LP for a while, and we'll be getting that on October 9th when Black Numbers releases Twelve Houses.

"Lovers Can Be Monsters" has kind of a dream-poppy quality and manages to give space and weight to what we'd normally think of as quiet and intimate feelings. The album version includes some added cymbals and percussion and an intro that all combine to give it an even bigger feel than the 7" version that came out a while back. Everything works together to create the heft and turmoil that we always feel internally during those quiet and intimate moments.

Head over to WXPN's The Key to check out the song, and head to Black Numbers to pre-order Twelve Houses.

Back to the emails.
