We've got a weird first few weeks of school in CoolTown. The cooldaughters start tomorrow, and then have four-day weeks until the last week of September. There's something to be said for easing them into the groove, I guess. This weekend, you can ease yourself out of the summer with some very good show-going options.

It's a quiet Thursday night with some regular free offerings at APYC and Convention Hall's Beach Bar. At the other end of Convention Hall, Anchor's Bend is hosting a beach BBQ to raise funds for Asbury's St. Patrick's Day Parade. Mom Fight, Harborland, Threeprongfork, and Sistine are at Brighton Bar.

Things pick up considerably on Friday night. Moon Motel are back for a free show at APYC. The Court Tavern returns with "A New Hope" featuring Chemtrail, GayGuy/StraightGuy, Delsea, Owel, and Centennials. Soupergroove starts out at the NJ Latvian Society in Freehold Township. Friday's Soupergroove lineup features Quincy Mumford, Des and The Swagmatics, Eastbourne, Turtle Soup, and lots more. Hey Anna are back at The Saint with Off & On and acoustic Goodbye Tiger. John Eddie is at Wonder Bar. Red Bull, BrooklynVegan, and The Stone Pony present Against ME! at the Pony with Cakes Da Killa and Big Eyes. It's one of those "Give us your email address and we'll let you in for $3 if there's room, but if there isn't room you'll wait on line and get turned away" kind of things.

Also on Friday, FoCDMs Hot Blood hold the release show for Part 2 of their Overcome trilogy of EPs at Asbury Lanes. Joining them on the bill will be Execütors, Honah Lee, and Gangway!. Asbury Lanes probably even has Red Bull at the bar if that's your thing.

On Saturday night, Asbury Lanes opens for some hangout time, which you may want to take advantage of for at least part of the evening. We don't know how many more chances we'll get. EdTang and The Chops play APYC for their final show ever with Chris Brown. Mars Needs Women headline an all-day Labor Day Weekend party at Brighton Bar. Black Flamingos hit Langosta with Los Pocos Locos and Primitive Finks. Soupergroove rolls on with The Battery Electric, Deal Casino, Dark City Strings, Tony Tedesco, and more. Our very good friends in Jersey City's Overlake have a big opening slot at Bowery Ballroom with shoegaze legends Swervedriver.

On Sunday, Facility, Jawbreaker Reunion, Nine Of Swords, The Bottom, and Duster are at New Brunswick's Cooler Ranch. Soupergroove features Blisstique, Glycerine Queens, Mad Feather Group, and more. Damian Marley is on the Summer Stage. The Struts play Wonder Bar.

Monday, the unofficial end of summer, is a day to pack up your shore house and head home. It's kind of quiet show-wise, but Happy Mondays never sleeps and brings InCircles, Vestibule, Grey Goes Black, and Doug Zambon out for a free show. Montclair's Meatlocker has Where Is My Spaceship, Endolphins, MC Focault, Clam Jam, Surprise Of The Century, and Young Legs.
