What's Going On: 10/22, 10/23, 10/24 & 10/25, 2015

The Vaughns celebrate the release of tomfoolery at Court Tavern on Saturday.

Bandwagonesque

I was a Yankee fan growing up in a Mets household. I'm not sure how it happened, but it did. Never having been someone that hated the Mets because of my Yankee fandom, I still retain Bill Buckner's boot of Mookie Wilson's ground ball in 1986 as one of my greatest baseball memories. During the 2000 Subway Series, it became clear to me that I have a strong preference for the Yankees; but watching my dad's excitement over the Mets' current run has been fun. Let's go Mets. The Series doesn't start until Tuesday, though; so #NOFOMO when you're out at shows this weekend.

On Thursday night, there's a symposium at Rutgers University's Alexander Library to celebrate the establishment of the New Brunswick Music Scene Archive. Panelists include Ronen Kauffman, Marissa Paternoster, Joe Steinhardt, and Jim Testa. Also in New Brunswick, the Candy Barrel hosts Treatment, Sad Lips, and Ghost Camp who have a big weekend ahead of them. Franchise, The Silverhounds, The Cryptkeeper Five, Pulling Punches and Comb The Desert are at The Court. Two Cow Garage, Chris Skel, and Stuyvesant hit The Saint. Dave Davies of one of my all-time favorites, The Kinks, plays The Stone Pony.

Ghost Camp come down to Deal with Teenage Halloween, Self Proclaimed Narcissist, Reflowered Girlz, and The Chambrays to play AK-47 on Friday. Gringo Motel are at APYC. Clash Bar in Clifton has Darkwing, Impossible Cities, Spowder, and Frogg Party. Longbeard celebrate their record release at New Brunswick's In The West with Howardian, Fraternal Twin, Rita Fishbone, and Yazan. The Saint's got The Pure Thirteen, The Mountain Chiefs, The Grand Omega, and Wolfcloak. Joe Grushecky and The House Rockers play a sold out Stone Pony. Special shoutout to our friend, Rebecca Satellite, who celebrates her birthday at The Gutter in Brooklyn when her band, A Deer A Horse, play with Mothers, Jesse R. Berlin, and Star Model B.

On Saturday, Microfossils are at APYC with Sister Ancestor. The Vaughns celebrate the release of tomfoolery with Deal Casino, Goodbye Tiger, and Cachabacha. Asbury's Kennedy Park hosts the Asbury Fresh Harvest Fest that features dollys, Long Faces, Rocky Catanese & The Chapter, Lowlight, and The Sunday Blues. YJY are at The Kremlin in New Brunswick with Journalism and Ghost Camp. The Grim Reaper signs his new book "What's Up Grim?": Haunted Hayriders in Their Own Words at Asbury's Paranormal Books & Curiosities. Teenage Halloween and The Great Depression head up to Hoboken's Stevens Institute to help out Tiny Moving Parts, Everything Ever, and Diet. Joe Grushecky plays a second night at The Pony. Dark City Entertainment presents another Asbury Unplugged featuring the return of Those Mockingbirds along with Accidental Seabirds, Julian Fulton, and more.

On Sunday, Bands on the Boardwalk continues with Sammy Kay and Cold Weather Company. The Brighton has White Mystery, Turbo Fruits, gods, and Simple Sin. The Stone Pony hosts a special "Concert for Mr. Lou" tribute and benefit show.
