Premiere: New Single from Philadelphia's Howlish. Album Out 11/17.

Howlish at The Saint in August

"Amy"

Howlish are a four-piece out of Philadelphia consisting of Mark Watter (vocals / guitar), Karl Germanovich (bass), Taylor Cullen (drums), and Brendan Sweeney (lead guitar). The band have a wide-open, ambient sound that also features elements of electronica, alternative rock, and pop.

Howlish will be releasing their full-length, 0uter, via Sniffling Indie Kids on November 17th. Today, they're sharing that album's second single "Amy." It's a swirling, melodic, and airy song bookended by an intro and a coda that add brief moments of technical electronic or mechanical-sounding noise. The song is a good example of the way in which Howlish successfully combine some of their more post-rocky tendencies with a sense of structure more common to alt rock and pop. In that sense, there's a strain running through Howlish's sound that could be compared to early Radiohead or Howlish's Philadelphia paisanos, The War On Drugs.

Check out "Amy" below and look for 0uter on November 17th. Howlish will be celebrating the album's release with a show at Philadelphia's Millhouse on November 21st. That show will also feature Skinny Bones, Goodbye Tiger, Jank, and an acoustic set from Matt Ryan.
