Did You Hear It Might Snow?
We've gotten off pretty easy so far this winter. Each day that goes by without dropping the thing I hate most in all the world all over the ground is a day closer to a snow-free winter for me. Looks like my luck may have run out, but we'll see. Assuming that all of these shows go off as planned, there's definitely some interesting stuff this weekend.
Things get started Thursday when Flemington's Casual play Candy Barrel in New Brunswick with Romantic States, Halfsour, and Lil Nae Nae & The Jegadone Boys. Cranston Dean, Accidental Seabirds, Thomas Wesley Stern, Dawn Drapes, and Pocket Vinyl make up a solid bill at The Saint. Dark City brings original music back to The Downtown in Red Bank when Mad Feather Group play a free show upstairs. New Brunswick's The Hot Beet Shmerb (awesome) has steve., The Wailing Kids, Living Tradition, and NGHTCRWLRS.
As the snow begins to fall in earnest on Friday night, you can catch our friends dollys at The Citizen in Jersey City with The Duskwhales, and Wild Americans. The Best Of The Worst, The Moms, City Limits, and Teenage Halloween are at In The West. Paradise: Lost hosts Casual, Coolshark, The Great Depression, and Rita Fishbone. 40 Pound Hound, Pathway, Moonfighter, and The Mighty Nothings play The Saint. Lunch Ladies head up to Bruns for a show with Ghost Camp, Halogens, Milkmen, and Early Morning Adventure at St. Mew's. Queensryche are at Starland. Casino Sundae, Centennials, The Way Out, The Extras, and The B-Sides play the Pony. Comb The Desert host the release party for Humannoyed at Stanhope House with Hot Blood, Franchise, Please Exist, and OMDUH.
Everyone should be dug out by evening on Saturday, so it should be no problem getting to New Brunswick's J House for dollys, Jank, Basement Beers, steve., and Save Face. You could probably even make the drive up to Brooklyn for Worriers, Big Huge, Likers, and YJY without too much effort. Jersey Rock's first free Winter Beach Crawl show should be a breeze since it's at The Saint. That one has The Black Sox Scandal, The Vaughns, GayGuy/StraightGuy, and The Mosers. Also almost walkable (for me), Black Flamingos play a free show at Red Bank's 10th Ave. Burrito. Black Feet, Turtle Soup, Little Stranger, Cat London, and the tireless Dentist play The Stone Pony. Starland Ballroom hosts the Panic State Records 7th Anniversary with With The Punches, World Inferno Friendship Society, Lost In Society, Sammy Kay, Teenage Halloween, and more.
Hodera are at Montclair's Meatlocker on Sunday with Arrows In Her, Forever Losing Sleep, Futures, and Gifts. Overlake play Palisades in Brooklyn with Doctor Barber, Big Cheese, and Ex-Mothers.
