What's Going On: 3/3, 3/4, 3/5 & 3/6, 2016

Dentist play APYC with Sharkmuffin and Darkwing on Friday.

Decisions, Decisions

I think everyone is going to have a really tough time deciding which shows to attend this weekend. So many great things in so many different places. Let's get right to it.

Things get started on Thursday night when touring machine Sharkmuffin play yet another tour kickoff show at Aviv in Brooklyn. It's also a tape release, and the bill includes Anmlplnet, Thick, Nonsense., and Baby Acid. Leonia's Darkwing play their own kickoff show at The Citizen in Jersey City with Morus Alba, Spowder, and Pretty American. More on Sharkmuffin and Darkwing in the next paragraph. In New Brunswick, Potty Mouth play the basement at Hidden Valley with Marissa Paternoster's Bad Canoes, Secret Mountain, and Stove.

Friday is jam-packed. The aforementioned Sharkmuffin and Darkwing join Dentist for the Asbury band's tour kickoff (We'll miss them.) show at APYC. Overlake, Anilore, Sunshine & The Rain, and Lady are at The Gutter in Brooklyn. Night Birds, Dirty Fences, and Crazy & The Brains make up an unbelievably great bill at Monty Hall. Dead Stars celebrate the release of Bright Colors at Brooklyn's Rough Trade with Holy Tunics, Infinity Girl, and Wild Pink. The Saint hosts Coffin Daggers' record release with Black Flamingos, Hot Blood, and Yawn Mower. Désir Decir, Cold Fur, and Black Wail play for free at Lucky 7's in Jersey City. I need clones.

I'm not sure if Saturday gets any easier. Moon Motel, Doug Zambon of The Vansaders, and Cortney Metzler of Harper's Fellow play for free at APYC. Vomitface, Dentist, and a mystery band that's Overlake play The Citizen in Jersey City. dollys, Gender Studies, Tula Vera, and Julian Fulton are at Montclair's Old Mogul Theatre. Pino's in Highland Park has the book release for Loud Is How I Love You. The "Hub City Romance" covers the 90s music scene in New Brunswick, and the party will feature Aviso' Hara, Eastern Anchors, Prosolar Mechanics, The Urchins, Stuntcocks, Bionic Rhoda, and more. The Great Depression play two shows on Saturday: a matinee at ABC No Rio in NYC with Part Time Bear, DIVORCE., and Basement Beers and an evening show at Naner Manor with The Gray Company, Ghost Guest and where is my spaceship?

There's even great stuff on Sunday with Ghost Camp, Slav, Wrung, Chud, and Deadhead at New Brunswick's Clinic. The amazing Shellshag are at Old Mogul Theatre with Basement Beers, Teenage Halloween, Pale Angels, and Casual.

I'll try to make it to see what I can. I won't be able to catch everything, obviously; so get out there and tell me what I miss.
