The Everymen Released a New Single and Announced a New Album

The Everymen played our first Sundown at the Carousel show last summer.

"Co-Dependent's Day"

The Everymen have always been a mix of influences from their home state of New Jersey. Take Bruce Springsteen, The Misfits, and The Shirelles. Throw in a healthy dose of flat out, on stage abandon; and you've got something like The Everymen.

Earlier this week, the band announced their third studio album, and second for Ernest Jenning Record Co., These Mad Dogs Need Heroes. Following a 2015 that saw the band hitting the road for nearly 200 shows in support of Givin' Up On Free Jazz, including a two-week tour with Philly's The War On Drugs, The Everymen headed to Muscle Shoals, Alabama and put down the 11 tracks that would become These Mad Dogs Need Heroes with Alabama Shakes' Ben Tanner.

Getting out of New Jersey and down to Alabama seems to have brought out the more soulful side of the band as evidenced by lead single "Co-Dependent's Day." It draws heavily on The Everymen's doo wop and girl group influences while still hinting at the band's propensity to rock. Vocalist Catherine Herrick is front and center here, while the rest of the band lend things a soulful swing.

You may be able to take the band out of New Jersey -- and the change of scenery definitely adds a new flavor to their sound -- but leave it to fearless leader Mike V and the rest of the band to give a little nod to their home state by referencing a Springsteen song in the title to their album's lead single.

These Mad Dogs Need Heroes is due from Ernest Jenning on May 27th. The Everymen celebrate with a release show at Brooklyn's Rough Trade on May 25th after which they'll be hitting the road yet again.
