New Video from Charly Bliss

"Ruby"

New York's Charly Bliss are a band I've loved from afar for a while now. I've tried several times to see them live; but, for whatever reason, I've never actually made it to one of their performances. Either I haven't been able to make it up to the City at the last minute or I've just missed them as I ran over from some other set at Northside Festival. So I've had to live with just listening to their recorded music.

The band released some new recorded music -- their first in 2 years -- just yesterday in the form of single "Ruby." It's pure power-pop... ...ok... ...BLISS... as far as I'm concerned. Eva Hendricks's bubblegum pop-inspired vocals play off against some heavy guitar hooks into a style that always grabs me. The video sees Charly Bliss promoting an upcoming battle of the bands appearance via a public access cable show that someone saw fit to record to VHS back in the day.

Charly Bliss head out on tour with PUP at the very end of this month. They'll be back in Brooklyn at Baby's All Right on June 21st, and maybe I'll finally make it to one of their shows. It's already in the calendar.
