"Place to Settle"

Monmouth Beach singer / songwriter Colton Kayser has been a fixture at the bars and boardwalks of the Jersey Shore. He released an excellent self-titled debut LP in 2014; and, in July, Kayser will be back with his sophomore effort, Place to Settle. The new album deals with lots of "real life" from hurricanes to finishing grad school to break-ups. At the end of May, Kayser premiered the title track from Place to Settle via Groundsounds.

In that interview, Kayser said, "The track is about someone who was trying to come back into my life after stepping out of it for a while. This song is me processing that. I was trying to figure out what they were looking for, and what decision was best for me." The song combines pop, folk, and alt-country with just a hint of Kayser's Jersey Shore roots.

Kayser recorded Place to Settle at Asbury Park's Lakehouse Recording Studio. The extremely busy Erik Kase Romero handled mixing, while the also very busy Tim Panella took on mastering duties. Glen Burtnik lends his voice on a pair of tracks. Stream "Place to Settle" below, and look for the album (including a limited-edition transluscent orange vinyl) on July 30th.
