Heat Wave
It's pretty hot, and it's gonna stay that way for the next few days. I don't mind, really. Summer's supposed to be hot, and it's usually pretty nice by the beach, especially in the evenings. Good thing you have a few chances to catch some shows on the sand this weekend.
A very busy Thursday gets started when Nicole Atkins plays a sold-out headlining show for the official grand opening at The Asbury. It's the first installment of Jams on the Sand at Anchor's Bend with Soule Monde and Dark City Strings. Darkwing are at Jersey City's Citizen with LKFFCT and Viennagram. Hodera celebrate the 1-year anniversary of United By Birdcalls at New Brunswick's J House with ROMP, dollys, and ManDancing. The Jolly Daggers are back, opening for Predator Dub Assassins at The Saint.
On Friday, Little Dickman Records bring Sharkmuffin back to Asbury with a show on the beach at Anchor's Bend. Joining them will be Brooklyn's Fruit & Flowers and a very special guest. If the waves get big enough you may get soaked, but who knows? Bone & Marrow play Asbury Park Yacht Club. The Anderson Council, The Brixton Riot, Miss Ohio, and Brenyama play Crossroads in Garwood. The Saint hosts the release show for the Asbury Park Summer Sampler featuring The Mosers, Wyland, Chemtrail, Levy & The Oaks, and Chris Brown.
On Saturday, The Tide Bends and Von Mons play APYC. RAKIM is at House of Independents. Walter Schreifels's Dead Heavens play Maxwell's Tavern in Hoboken. The Black Clouds, Bodyface, and Tango Machina play The Saint with tribute band Smashing Blumpkins. Joe Grushecky is at Wonder Bar.
GayGuy / StraigtGuy, The Off White and San Diego's The Soaks play Brighton Bar. Teenage Halloween head up to Brooklyn's Shea Stadium for a show with Nervous Dater, Def. GRLS, and Cool Tara. gods play an evening show at APYC.
