YJY Announce New EP. Release New Single.

Hightstown's YJY are back just a little more than a year after the release of Couch Surfin' USA. The four-piece have announced that the follow-up to that set, The Same Noise, will arrive on August 19th via Sniffling Indie Kids. The band have also given us the lead single from the new EP in the form of "Summer Lifeguard."

A staple of YJY's live sets for a while now, "Summer Lifeguard" takes the point of view of a guy pining for the lifeguard of the title. The narrator doesn't even get to experience rejection as he doesn't register so much as a blip on the object of his affection's radar. The song draws on surfy and reverb-enhanced guitar pop as inspiration, but it takes a few sonic and thematic detours from tradition.
