What's Going On: 9/29, 9/30, 10/1 & 10/2, 2016

Tacocat play Wonder Bar on Saturday with Sharkmuffin and Dude York.

Zombie Apocalypse

I'm a big zombie fan. While CoolDaughter #1 got in the spirit of things last year with a pretty gruesome makeup job, I tend to stand on the sidelines. The Asbury Park Zombie Walk happens Saturday, but there's plenty of stuff to satisfy the hunger the rest of this weekend.

Glazer, Wet Nurse, Joy Cleaner, and Secretary Legs play New Brunswick's In The West on Thursday. Pugwash and The Anderson Council are at Maxwell's Tavern in Hoboken. Waiting On Mongo play Langosta with Stranger Things. Poster Children, indie rock vets from CoolMom's hometown of Champaign, IL, play St. Vitus with Stuyvesant and Risk/Reward. Our buds in Dentist head up to Monty Hall in Jersey City for a show with The Scenics and Coy Kids.

On Friday, The Vibrators are at Brighton Bar with The X-Men, Cyclone Static, and Sometimes The Devil. It's the reunion of Days Awake at House of Independents with Remember Jones. Overlake play Brooklyn's Gutter with Vaureen, Jett Brando, and Lady. Bad Religion are at Starland. The Stone Pony hosts a free "Thank You For Summer" party.

Following the Zombie Walk on Saturday, Jolly Daggers take over APYC with help from Creamer. Banding Together, a live show to benefit the Spondylitis Association of America, happens at Clash Bar with Subterraneans, Miss Ohio, John The Gun, The Brixton Riot, and The Anderson Council. Bon Jovi play a show at Count Basie Theatre for which you could only win tickets at the band's website. Mariachi El Bronx are at Crossroads in Garwood with Dead Heavens, Pounded By The Surf, and Bobby Mahoney. Willie Nile returns to Asbury with a show at House of Independents that also features The Vansaders. The OnPoint Festival takes place all day at Hoboken's Stevens Institute and features PWR BTTM, Speedy Ortiz, Mal Blum, eskimeaux, Bellows, our friends dollys and Corrina, Corrina along with many more for the low price of $10. Tacocat come all the way from Seattle to play Wonder Bar with Sharkmuffin and Dude York.

On Sunday, Little Dickman Records host a day party at Brooklyn's Our Wicked Lady featuring RocknRoll HiFives, Von Mons, Dentist, The Off White, Psychiatric Metaphors, Fruit & Flowers, and special guests Metallikats. Lowlight play The Hive in Chester with Kate Dressed Up and Rebecca Emont. Fruit & Flowers play a second show at NYC's Berlin with Desert Sharks and Daddy Issues. Pity Sex, eskimeaux, and American Trappist are at The Saint.

That's a lot to chew on. If you see me anywhere shamble on over to say hi.
