New Single From Rochester, NY’s Violet Mary

"Figure It Out"

By Henry Lipput

Violet Mary, a five-piece rock band from Rochester, New York, has released "Figure It Out" as a single from their All That We Seem album.

"Figure It Out" is Heart with a power-pop beat. It has a terrific melody along with a classic-rock sound, crunching guitars, and a strong vocal from Violet Mary lead singer Mel Muscarella. It's certainly one of the highlights of the new album and a good choice to attract listeners to the rest of it. You can listen to the single below.

All That We Seem came out in July; and the double album showcases the many sounds and influences the band members bring to the mix including pop, blues, punk, and Americana. From the metal opening track "Scissor Man," to the lovely strings and ghostly backing vocals of the acoustic "All This Time." There's the whimsical 60s pastiche of "End Of The World, Part 1," the roots-rock of "Gone Up The River," and, after the quiet, bluesy opening of "End Of The World, Part 2," the album ends with a roar as the band kicks in. It's like a really good mix tape.
