Dan Waszay is kind of like Asbury Park's man of mystery. His self-titled LP from a couple of years ago, totally self-produced and self-recorded, was an example of DIY darkness that took listeners on a late-night drive through deserted highways. Maybe someone passed you a copy somewhere in Asbury Park one night after a show. Since that LP's release, Waszay has popped up to play the occasional solo set or show with his band, The Blackouts. He's also been holed up, hard at work on his next release; and, last week, he gave us a taste of what he's been up to with the release of "Play Dead."
"Play Dead" is a fuzzed out, slow burning, David Lynchian garage rocker that again suggests images of a vintage convertible rumbling through the night. Check out the song below and stay tuned for more info on what Dan Waszay is conjuring up for his next record.
