the Beat the Sound the Dragon's Roar
Plenty going on this weekend, including what I think will be a really special night on Saturday. We'll get to that one, but in the meantime...
Things kick off on Thursday with the weekly open mics at The Asbury and The Inkwell. The Bongos come to Wonder Bar with The Rubinoos. Formula 5, Waiting On Mongo, and UFOTOFU are at The Saint. Shea Stadium in Brooklyn hosts A Deer A Horse, Spirit Ghost, Calico Blue, and Fruit & Flowers. That one's a birthday celebration for ADAH's Rebecca Satellite. Happy birthday!
On Friday night, Colton Kayser and Toy Cars are at APYC. Bobby Mahoney and The Seventh Son head to BoonTunes in Boonton with The Company Kept, Will Wood, Ito, and John Shepherd. Lucero come to House of Independents with Cory Branan. Algebra II head to New Brunswick's In The West to play with Tim Woulfe, Teen Spaceship, and Rita Fishbone. Ghost Camp, Frontyards, Kissing Is A Crime, Lunch Ladies, and Ashes To Rain play Paradise: Lost in Bruns. Brooklyn's Sunnyvale hosts a benefit for Louisiana flood relief that features Lost Boy ?, Sharkmuffin, Fruit & Flowers, Dan Francia, and Fraidycat. Pennywise come to The Stone Pony.
On Saturday afternoon, it's another installment of the Bond St. Block Party in Asbury with gods, Huge, The Battery Electric, GayGuy / StraightGuy, The Cold Seas, The Ribeye Brothers, Des and The Swagmatics, and The Jolly Daggers. Later, Rick Barry celebrates the release of Curses, Maledictions, and Harsh Reiterations at Asbury Hall with help from Tara Dente and Ian Colletti. dollys come home from tour and play at Asbury's Lakehouse with Vasdueva, Toy Cars, and The North American. Roxy & Dukes hosts the Makin Waves Rock Circus with music from The Black Clouds, Will Wood and The Tapeworms, The Production, and Experiment 34. That one also features burlesque and a freak show. Start Making Sense are at The Stone Pony.
Also on Saturday, Little Dickman Records and CoolDad Music present the release party for RocknRoll HiFives' the Beat the Sound the Dragon's Roar. Deal Casino also play that one. The show is free, and it promises to be a night full of confetti, smiles, and happiness. There's lots to choose from on Saturday, but this is one you don't want to miss.
On Sunday, The Asbury hosts "Hear Me Roar" which features Emily Grove, Tara Dente, Candace Shur, and lots more, including poetry. Convention Hall hosts another Punk Rock Flea Market. Jet Weston and His Atomic Ranch Hands are back at Langosta.
