What's Going On: 11/3, 11/4, 11/5 & 11/6, 2016

CoolDad Music invited Fruit & Flowers to Thursday's Blox Cord 1 Showcase at The Footlight in Ridgewood, Queens.

It's Almost Over

Our long, national nightmare is almost over. Hopefully, another, even longer, national nightmare is not about to begin. Spend the weekend ignoring the news and go enjoy a show or two.

A busy Thursday night kicks things off. Dentist join Sonic Avenues and The Steve Adamyk Band for a free show at Asbury Park Yacht Club. This is a good one that you don't want to miss -- unless, that is, you're heading up to Ridgewood, Queens to see Slonk Donkerson, Fruit & Flowers, Leland Sundries, and The Vaughns at The Footlight. That one's presented by SIMGE and curated by Elmore Magazine, The Joy of Violent Movement, and me. Gonna be fun. I have room in the coolvan.

Also on Thursday, The Saint hosts the rock, electric version of Hear Me Roar featuring Tara Dente, Bone & Marrow, Girl, and more. Philly via LA duo, Girlpool, are at Silent Barn in Brooklyn for a good one that also features Yohuna and Jackal Onasis.

On Friday night, it's another Aloha Friday with Black Flamingos at Anchor's Bend. Lowlight, Creamer, and Ron Santee are at APYC. Cicada Radio celebrate the release of their latest at The Funhouse in Jersey City with Crazy & The Brains, Bad Cop/Bad Cop, Dead Bars, and Nervous Triggers. SICK SHIT are back again at Millhill Basement in Trenton with Stag Party, Sedative, Dusters, PISS KVLT, and School Drugs. Ireland's The Stunning come to The Saint with Bryan Fitzpatrick and The Band Of Brothers. It's the monthly Rent Party benefit in Maplewood with Marco Ranieri, The Anderson Council, and The Grip Weeds. Highly Suspect play House of Independents with the awesome Slothrust opening.

Saturday night brings Foes of FERN, We're Ghosts Now, and Ashley McKinley to APYC. John Doe plays Congregational Church in Montclair with Warren Zanes. Deaf Rhino play Maxwell's Tavern with The Battery Electric, minor mitten, and Nemes. American Watercolor Movement reunite at Monty Hall as they open for Silver Apples. Secret Nudist Friends, who are working their way home after a tour, are at CVS Pharmacy in Bruns with The Great Depression, johnnycola, and Blind Lion. The Black Clouds celebrate the release of After All at The Stone Pony with The Obvious, Collective Man, Experiment 34, and Yorkshire Tenth. The Red NOT Chili Peppers are at House of Independents with Dentist opening and reprising their Green Day set from last year's Convention Hell. Screaming Females, Moor Mother, and Little Waist are at Brooklyn's Villain.

FoCDM, Gentleman Jim Norton, kicks of his new trivia night at The Asbury on Sunday. The Off White head up to Brooklyn's Our Wicked Lady for a late afternoon show with Hot Curl, Funcrusher, Lesisure Studies, and Philly's Secret Nudist Friends. Shellshag and Vacation are at Silent Barn in Brooklyn with Palberta and PRIMA. Sandy Mack is at the Pony.

Oh, and Sunday is also Emily from Dentist's birthday! Happy birthday, Emily!

Remain blissfully ignorant for the rest of the weekend; but then, on Tuesday November 8th, make sure you vote.
