Lake Como Rocks!
Looks like we're in for some good weather this weekend, which bodes well for my getting out on the bike and CoolDaughter #2's actually playing her first softball game of the season. There's lots to do in terms of shows, so get out of the house. Oh, also... ...you'll notice that I'm listing fewer shows in Central Jersey this weekend. If you've got something you'd like me to list at one of the venues I'm no longer mentioning, then just let me know and I'll put it up.
On Thursday night, Pinegrove play a sold-out Bowery Ballroom with Hovvdy and Lomelda. Ziggy Shock is at Brighton Bar with Vigilante Cowboys and Happy Joe. Screaming Females play the first of two area shows. This one's at Brooklyn Bazaar with Future Punx and Snakeskin. The Saint hosts Animal Reporters, Good Luck Spaceman, and The Berns.
Fruit & Flowers play Alphaville in Brooklyn on Friday with Teen Vice and C'Yotes. Old Maid and Sister Ancestor are at APYC. Mikey Erg plays Clash Bar in Clifton with The Fiendz, Digger, and Satterwaite. Asbury's House of Independents has Colossal Street Jam, Frankenstein 3000, Bitter Crush, and Kenny Dubman. The Feelies return to Rent Party in Maplewood. The Footlight in Ridgewood, Queens has Def.GRLS, The Big Drops, Darkwing, and The Duskwhales.
Also on Friday, Screaming Females, Night Birds, and Glazer are at one of the final Paul's Tavern shows in Lake Como. It was fun while it lasted.
APYC hosts Ribeye Brothers and Lyons on Saturday night. Taylor Tote is at The Asbury. The Scandals hold their record release party at Crossroads with help from gates, Dead Swords, Nine Eighteen, and D'Arcy. Levy & The Oaks, The Mercury Brothers, and Phoebe Nix play Langosta. It's a celebration of Kurt Cobain's birthday and the anniversary of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at The Saint brought to you by Makin Waves and featuring The Black Clouds, Shovels, Experiment 34, Wicked Hollow, and Yorkshire Tenth.
Sunday brings Corefest 2017 to the Cook College Campus at Rutgers with The Hotelier, Petal, The Moms, Curtis Cooper, Hong Kong Graffiti, and johnnycola. The Maine are at The Stone Pony with The Mowgli's apostrophe, and Beach Weather. The Brookdale Guitar show happens at, well, Brookdale.
