"By the Water"

Formed back in 2011 by brothers Greg (vocals, guitar) and Vramshabouh Kherlopian (lead guitar, vocals), Brooklyn via New Jersey four-piece, The Big Drops, are set to release their debut LP on June 23rd. Time, Color is the product of a collaboration that began when the brothers went to live together in a small log cabin. They brought their own recording equipment and spent three years working through songs and lineups before finding the rhythm section of Caleb Etsey (drums) and Steve Donohue (bass) in 2015.

Last week, The Big Drops released the first single from Time, Color in the form of "By the Water." "By the Water" blends elements of psych-rock, indie rock, pop, and even electronica into an easygoing soundscape. The song pushes forward on a steady pulse as the guitars swirl, closing with a quiet, electronic outro. It's an eclectic mix of sounds in a single track, so it should be interesting to see what The Big Drops sprinkle into a full-length album.

Give a listen to "By the Water" below and look for Time, Color on June 23rd. In the meantime, you can catch The Big Drops live when they play Brooklyn's Gateway on 5/4 and Clifton's Clash Bar on 5/12.
