Hey! Twin Peaks Are Playing The Stone Pony on Wednesday, 6/7!

I Know, Right?

Sometimes you're scanning for the goings-on in our little neck of the woods and, from among the Springsteen tribute acts and veteran rockers on their last go-round, something catches your attention. Well, that's what happened when I noticed that Chicago indie / garage rock five-piece, Twin Peaks, would be headlining The Stone Pony this Wednesday, June 7th.

The band's third LP, Down In Heaven, came out last spring; and its pastiche of styles -- the product of the efforts of three different singer / songwriters in the band -- received praise from all of the certified tastemakers in the music blogosphere while also being really good. The band worked with co-producer R. Andrew Humphrey on the album, and John Agnello (The Hold Steady, Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile) -- whose name pops up a lot around here -- handled mixing. There are recognizable influences from bands like The Rolling Stones, The Strokes, Pixies, and more.

This is one that's really worth your time; and, if you'd like to see more shows like this around here, then let the powers-that-be know that by turning out on Wednesday. Ron Gallo and Winstons are also on this one, and doors are at 7pm.
