Come say hi to us this Friday night! |
New Ink
The Visionary Tattoo Arts Festival comes to Asbury Park's Convention Hall this weekend. That means lots of people will be getting some new ink, and it also means after-parties to help people celebrate their new body art. There's also plenty of other stuff happening.
Things get started on Thursday night with American Trappist at APYC along with The Steve Maxwell 4. This week's Jams on the Sand at Anchor's Bend features Bonerama. Night Birds are back in Jersey with a show at Monty Hall in Jersey City. That one also features Western Addiction and Moral Panic. The Battery Electric head up to Jersey City as well for a show at Pet Shop with The Furies. Ribeye Brothers play a free show at Asbury's Porta National Park. The Tattoo Convention kicks things off with a pre-party at Wonder Bar.
The Soul Compound hit Anchor's Bend on Friday. Tony Appleseed and The Porchistas play The Soundbooth bar in The Asbury. Corrina, Corrina and Toy Cars are at Asbury Park Music Foundation to play with Save Face, Hot Mulligan and In Angles. Blondie and Garbage bring their tour to Red Bank's Count Basie Theatah. St. James & The Apostles are at Langosta. Dentist head over to Trenton's Millhill Basement to play with Pissed!, Alpha Rabbit, Raffle House, and Erotic Novels. The Rubinoos are at Monty Hall with The Jeanies. Modern Crowds play their release show at The Saint with The Mercury Brothers, New Politicians, and The Gray. Primus make their annual pilgrimage to the Stone Pony Summer Stage, this time with Clutch. The Battery boys are on the locals only stage inside the Pony after that show. LKFFCT and Yawn Mower are at Krogh's in Sparta, NJ.
Also on Friday, Little Dickman Records, The Garden State Beard and Mustache Society, and CoolDad Music bring you The Nude Party, Fruit & Flowers, and High Waisted at Asbury Hall. It's one of those Tattoo Festival after-parties I was telling you about, and it features three absolutely mind-blowing bands for free. Come hang.
Little Dickman keeps the pedal to the metal on Saturday when they present Tight Lipped, Speed Queen, and Electric Mess at Anchor's Bend for Saturday's tattoo festivities. The Vansaders are at APYC for a free one with The Morgan Freemasons. Lower The Veil make their area return with a show at Brighton Bar in Long Branch that features Wicked Hollow, The Walk Arounds, and Everything Falls. DC's Priests are at Brooklyn Bazaar with Future Punx and Groupie. The Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery hosts their annual Goatstock benefit. This year's event features Underlined Passages, Fruit & Flowers, Cyclone Static, latewaves, and more. Nicole Atkins headlines the Monmouth County Fair in Freehold. Lowlight are back at Metuchen's Old Franklin Schoolhouse with Dan Whitley and The Paper Jets. Roxy & Dukes has Disposable, Coach N' Commando, Mass Folk Commons, and Bon Bon Vivant. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are at Starland Ballroom. Gin Blossoms, Fuel, Alien Ant Farm, Marcy Playground, and Dishwalla all play Summer Stage at the Pony. Colton Kayser, Will Evans, and Rachel Ana Dobken all play Saturday afternoon at the Danny Clinch Transparent exhibit in The Asbury.
On Sunday, Ross The Boss headlines Brighton Bar in Long Branch. Shawn Colvin and Joan Osborne are at Red Bank's Count Basie. Pinact, Resounding No, Decoration, and Tula Vera are at Flemington DIY.
You've also got the Panorama Music Festival all this weekend on Randall's Island in NYC if wandering around in the heat for three days to see a whole bunch of acts is your thing.
I hope to see you somewhere this weekend, especially at our show tomorrow night. CoolDaughter #1 has the NJ Junior Olympic swim meet this weekend, so good luck to her!
