After three EPs and several years of relentless live performing, Asbury Park's Deal Casino released their long-awaited, debut LP last month. Our own Henry Lipput reviewed Deal Casino and called the album "the sound of a band at the peak of their powers." The band followed up the release with a sold-out show at Asbury Park's Stone Pony and appear poised for big things.
We've still got them here on our little, local music website, though; and, today, Deal Casino release the video for the album's opening track, "My Gun." The song goes from simmering to explosive, and the video explores the feedback loop that exists between media and society.
"This piece is about people, not politics," say the members of Deal Casino. They, once again, called upon the immensely talented Anthony Yebra to direct; and Yebra captured that sentiment perfectly. His video for "My Gun" is, at times, tense and jarring; but it, ultimately, reveals a faith in people's ability to think for themselves.
