Bashes, Mashes, and Covers
It's the weekend closest to Halloween, so that means we have tons of Halloween bashes, monster mashes, and cover sets from which to choose.
On Thursday night, Joe P and Frank Lombardi will play as themselves at their Langosta Lounge weekly residency. Same goes for Trü and The RockNRoll HiFives when they play Pet Shop in Jersey City. The Saint hosts a Hurricane Maria benefit featuring Modern Crowds, Shoobies, Taylor Tote, Idle Wave, Ernest, and Maria Krauss. Phil Lesh plays Convention Hall in Asbury.
The Crimson Ghosts bring instrumental versions of Misfits' tunes to Anchor's Bend on Friday. American Trappist, 5J Barrow, and Natalie Farrell are at The Asbury's Soundbooth. Ribeye Brothers return to Asbury Park Yacht Club with Von Mons and Danged. latewaves, The Manner Of, Rocky & The Chapter, and Night Surf play Bond St. Basement's Halloween party. It's punk rock covers at Brighton Bar in Long Branch with 18th & Addison, Misfits Of Asia, Sell Yourself Short, and Rage Hard. There's a free, all-night covers show at Brooklyn's Gutter Bar. Shred Flintstone, Electric Sensei, Perennial, and Smock play it straight at The Meatlocker in Montclair. Fruit & Flowers hit Mercury Lounge in NYC with Honduras, Alex F, and Chorizo. Millhill Basement in Trenton hosts hometown heroes The Cryptkeeper Five along with Hot Blood, Doc Rotten, and The Carousers. It's a Halloween Bash at The Saint with The Burns, The Double Negatives, Canyon Ride, and The Afraid Brigade. Mephiskapheles return to Wonder Bar in Asbury with Hub City Stompers and 45 Adapters.
On Saturday, High Waisted, The Coax, Secret Nudist Friends, and Pretty Greens are at The Barbary in Philly. Handsome Dick Manitoba is back at Brighton Bar with LEEDS and Graveyard School. Crossroads in Garwood takes on the 90s with tribute sets featuring the music of Nirvana, Weezer, Pearl Jam, and Foo Fighters. Quality Living, A Bird, Brian Erickson, and Night On The Sun play Hansil's in Oakland. House of Independents has Citizen, Sorority Noise, and Great Grandpa. The Split Squad, Dressy Bessy, Stupidity, Crust, and The Antics play The Saint. Matt O'Ree Band headline The Stone Pony. Tierney's in Montclair has their annual Halloween party featuring The Porchistas and The Defending Champions.
Also on Saturday, the Convention Hell mega covers extravaganza returns to Convention Hall. This installment features Remember Jones as JuggalOtis Redding, Matt Wade Band as Parliament Funkadelic, Members of The Black Clouds, Lower The Veil, Cycle Of Pain, Shut Up as Soundgarden, Des and The Swagmatics as Chaka Khan, Shady Street Show Band as B52s, Rick Barry Band as Counting Crows, and Dentist as The Ramones.
Lucinda Williams is at Red Bank's Count Basie on Sunday. Noise in the Attic at Inkwell Coffee House in Long Branch has Jesse Lee, Renee Maskin, Brooks Strause, and Extravision. Shannon and The Clams play Monty Hall. Fence, Motor Heart Man, Sunbowl, and more are doing more covers at Scarlet Pub.
