Thanksgiving
This has been a tough year here at CoolDad Music. It feels a little weird to be thankful for anything; but I truly am thankful for all of you, my family and friends, for sticking with me through the good times and the bad. There were lots of good times in 2017, even if they've been overshadowed by some real badness. Plenty of opportunities this weekend -- other than the dinner table -- to see the people that mean the most to you.
On Wednesday night, Des & The Swagmatics play The Asbury. Dark City Strings hit APYC. Bob Dylan is back at The Beacon in NYC. Squeeze and Wesley Stace are at Red Bank's Count Basie Theatre. Waiting On Mongo do all night at Langosta. Ho99o9, Pink Mass, GDP, and The Bennys play White Eagle Hall in Jersey City. Wonder Bar hosts a WhyHunger benefit featuring lots of acts like JoBonnano, Joe D'Urso, Bobby Mahoney, and Jon Caspi doing Bruce songs. The Stone Pony hosts a Thanksgiving Eve toy drive that features GayGuy/StraightGuy, Lyons, Well Wisher, The Morgan Freemasons, and The Vice Rags.
Thursday is Thanksgiving.
Black Friday brings Justin & Emily of Dentist to The Asbury along with Rudy Meier and Joseph Alton Miller. Millhill Basement hosts a Puerto Rico benefit featuring Night Raids, SICK SHIT, worldsucks, Dope Rider, and Over Everything. Ex-Girlfriends play Elsewhere in Brooklyn with Evolfo, Bullada, and Ben Piriani. Shellshag are back home at Silent Barn in Brooklyn with Math The Band, Teenage Halloween, Nervous Dater and Ivan Saladin. Remember Jones does Back To Black in its entirety at The Stone Pony.
On Saturday, We're Ghosts Now are back at APYC with Fun While You Wait and Brother Valiant. Teenage Halloween, Secret Mountain, Well Wisher, and Bobby Mahoney play over in these parts at Christ Church in Shrewsbury. House of Independents celebrate their second birthday with a free party featuring Vinnie Caruana, The Vansaders, latewaves, Levy & The Oaks, Rocky & The Chapter, and DJ Pete Steinkopf. Shady Street Show Band are at Langosta. Shellshag, John Hays, Sweaty, and Torpedoes play Volume IV in New Brunswick. Nicole Atkins plays a hometown show with Low Cut Connie at Wonder Bar.
The Vaughns head to Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck to open for Laura Stevenson on Sunday. Also on Sunday, Chris & Charlie Brown are at Asbury Park Festhalle & Biergarten. Joe Galuppo, The Adventuring Party, and Jeff Linden & The Black Spot Society are at Scarlet Pub in New Brunswick.
