Thanks, Vets!
It's Veterans Day and NJEA Convention Weekend. That means that the CoolDaughters have four days off, and we all get to say thank you to people like my grandfather, my father-in-law, Amy Dickman, and anyone else who answered the call to serve the rest of us. If you see a veteran out at a show this weekend, say thanks and buy them a root beer.
You can start doing that on Thursday night when Knuckle Puck play House of Independents in Asbury with Movements, Confidence, and Homesafe. Joyce Manor and Wavves bring their co-headlining tour to Brooklyn Steel with Culture Abuse. Wavves do a free DJ set at Sunnyvale following the show. The Saint hosts a holiday food drive show featuring The Godlings, Rockstar Scenario, Pamela Flores, and Acqui. Bethlehem Steel celebrate the release of Party Naked Forever at Brooklyn's Silent Barn with Emily Reo, Maneka, and Wicked Kind.
The Burns head up to the big city for a show at Arlene's Grocery on Friday. Tony Appleseed, Bone & Marrow, Homeless Apians, and Venus Envy play The Asbury. Sneakers Award, Early Riser, Mikey Erg, and Not Yer Baby are at Asbury Park Brewery. Ba Babes are back for a show in the basement at Bond St. with Cheap Horse and Swamp City Rockers. Franchise hold a release show at Clash Bar in Clifton with Lazarus Wilde, Visits, and Leaving. Nervous Triggers head to El Cortez in Brooklyn to open for Sticks & Stones with Damage Done and Young Ladies. Shilpa Ray play Monty Hall in JC with Fascinations Grand Chorus. Lowlight return to Metuchen for a show at Old Franklin Schoolhouse with Hank Reineke. Well Wisher and Secret Mountain support Cayetana at Ramapo College. LKFFCT, Shred Flintstone, Yawn Mower, Mutual Interest, and Professor Caveman play Stosh's in Fair Lawn. The Mountain Goats play a sold-out White Eagle Hall. White Reaper play NYC's Le Poisson Rouge.
On Saturday, Levy & The Oaks, Looms, The Dawn Drapes, and The Cordial Sins are at The Asbury. Sammy Kay, The Vansaders, Michael Jackson & The Beatles, and Nathan Gray continue this week's run of shows taking place at Asbury Park Brewery. Thee Idea Men and Modern Crowds hit APYC. House of Independents has Lucero and Two Cow Garage. Lowlight play their second show of the weekend at Pino's in Highland Park with The Stuntcocks and RGD. Seaside Caves open for Modern English and The Veldt at Wonder Bar.
The Off White play Brooklyn's Cape House on Sunday with Brenda, Even Jewett, and The GBs. The Used and Glassjaw are at Starland. Cherry Glazerr play Sunnyvale in Brooklyn with THICK and Dancers.
