Happy Birthday CoolMom!
So this is Winter Solstice. And what have you done?
I'm just going to kick things off this week with a big, huge "Happy birthday!" to CoolMom. I love her with every fiber of my being. She puts up with my leaving family functions early (or missing them entirely), jetting off to Austin for a week, blasting music throughout the house, and dragging her out to events when she'd rather just go to bed for no other reason than she knows it makes me happy. CoolMom is the best person on planet earth and is there for yours truly through thick and thin. We'd all be nowhere without her. She deserves the best day.

Things get started on this holiday weekend with a pop up shop / holiday party at Asbury Park Brewery featuring music from Chris Loporto, Michael Pellegrino, Joe P, and Joe & Chris Mayo. Brooklyn Bazaar hosts the Shea Stadium holiday party with Yucky Duster, Bueno, Fits, and Emmerson and Her Clammy Hands. Envy On The Coast are at House of Independents with Can't Swim, Rare Futures, and Gatherers. There's a Winter Solstice party at The Saint with too many people to list here. All Time Low are at Starland.
On Friday night, Jolly Daggers storm Asbury Park Yacht Club with Swamp City Rockers and Marguerite of Little Vicious. Puppy Grease, Bourbon Spills, and Godlings are at The Chubby Pickle in Highlands. Hub City Stompers play Clash Bar in Clifton with Broken Heroes and Thirsty Guys. Good Old War, Petal, and Jackson Pines are at House of Independents. We Used To Cut The Grass celebrate the season at Langosta. The Cryptkeeper Five, Doc Rotten, Roy Orbitron, and After The Burn play Trenton's Millhill Basement. Music is back at Paul's Tavern in Lake Como with A Will Away, Save Face, Halogens, America Part Two, and Suntitle. Hey Anna, Lemats, Deadeye Swagger, and Memoirs Of Addiction are at Piano's in NYC. Jocelyn & Chris Arndt come to The Saint with Jake Tavill and Hannah Kraft.
Saturday, Christmas Eve Eve, brings Hot Blood back from their ban at APYC with Country Grits & The Dicks. Little Steven & The Disciples Of Soul play Red Bank's Count Basie. Ovlov, NO ICE, Grace Kelly All Day, and Beeyotch are at NYC's Mercury Lounge. The Stone Pony hosts Waiting On Mongo, Matt Wade Band, Fungkshui, and No Phizz.
Sunday is Christmas Eve. I'm not sure if there are any shows to see; but, hopefully, you'll have a chance to spend some time with the people you love, whether you're celebrating the holiday or not. This isn't an easy time for everyone, and I'd like to send thoughts to those of you who will be missing someone this year. I hope everyone can find some joy this holiday; and, please, don't drink or otherwise alter your consciousness and drive a car.
