Post V-Day
Valentine's Day is over, and we're sliding into President's Day Weekend. More importantly, though, every Major League Baseball team has opened camp for Spring Training. Even if you're single, don't have a day off, or don't like baseball, you have to be excited about the prospect of spring. You can celebrate at any of a number of great shows this weekend.
On Thursday night, School Drugs are at Asbury Park Brewery with Sister Munch, Downtrodder, and Jaws. Robyn Hitchcock plays a sold-out Monty Hall in Jersey City. Pollyanna, Colour Show, America Part 2, and Gianna are at Brighton Bar in Long Branch. Dirty Fences play Rough Trade in Brooklyn with Las Rosas and Animal Show.
The Asbury has a free show on Friday featuring Quinton Smith & The Company, Chevonne & The Fuzz, Finding Feebas, and Dano Chirico. Ragged Lines, Jackson Pines, Saw Black, and Dogwood Tales are at the brewery. Robyn Hitchcock plays his second night at Monty Hall. Glazer, Risk Relay, and Mutual Interest are at Pino's in Highland Park. Superchunk celebrate the release of their latest LP with a performance and signing at Rough Trade in Brooklyn. That's followed by a show from Starcrawler, Sundown Club, and Dr. Danny. The Skullers play Roxy & Dukes with Virago, Busse & The Vibes, and Mr. Revelator. Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes play The Stone Pony. Bat Fangs are at Union Pool in Brooklyn with Beech Creeps and Simon Doom. On The Cinder, The Vansaders, latewaves, and The Carousers play Trenton's Millhill Basement.
On Saturday night, Lost Boy ?, The Love Ways, Nihiloceros, and LAPêCHE play Brooklyn's Alphaville. Ribeye Brothers, Black Flamingos, and The Vice Rags play a free show at APYC. Willie Nile is at Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck. Signal To Noise NJ hosts another fundraiser for WFDU. This one is at Pino's in Highland Park and features Stuyvesant, Lyons, and Joy Cleaner. The Stone Pony hosts the local friends rock and roll party 2018 with The Battery Electric, The Vansaders, Lowlight, Little Vicious, and Strange Eclipse.
Lyons head up to Jersey City on Sunday night to play a show with Leaving at Pet Shop JC. The Shady Street Show Band are at The Saint with The Spring Street Family. The Legion Bar in Brooklyn hosts Winstons, The Tide Bends, and the overs, and DA POP. Less Than Jake and Four Year Strong are at Starland.
Monday is a holiday, and Little Dickman Records and I are hosting a show at Asbury Park Brewery. That one features Stuyedeyed, Wetbrain, and Sweet Joey's Thing Of Beauty. It's free. Also on Monday, Silverstein and Tonight Alive are at House Of Independents. Pink Mexico play St. Vitus in Brooklyn with Prettiest Eyes and Cup.
